for Two Bass Viols and Continuo Vol. 1, hg. Ashbee.

This is the first volume of series intending to cover all the authenticated bass viol duos by Jenkins. A number have already been published elsewhere, notably by Dovehouse, but this new edition supphes much new material. Of particluar interest are the extensive fingering and ornamentation markings (possibly in Jenkins' own hand, but at any rate contemporary) that exist in a single partbook in the Royal College of Music have been studied in detail and reproduced for the first time.
